View warranty terms and conditionsWhen Fujifilm introduced the X-H1 in February 2018, it placed it above the X-T2 as the flagship of the X series. Its big novelty: it was the first X body with in-body stabilization (5-axis IBIS), added to the most complete video capabilities Fuji had offered up to that point. It is, essentially, a camera designed for the hybrid photographer and videographer who wants to work seriously.
It mounts the X-Trans CMOS III APS-C sensor of 24.3 MP —the same as the X-T2, so by 2018 it was no longer new— inside a robust, weather-sealed magnesium alloy body with a better grip than its siblings. It adds a large, sharp OLED viewfinder (3.69M dots), a top status screen inherited from the GFX, and a notably quiet mechanical shutter.
It lets you shoot excellent RAW and JPEG files with Fuji's film simulations —ETERNA debuts here—, record 4K with internal F-Log, and take advantage of IBIS to work without a tripod with fixed lenses. It is not light nor the fastest at focusing unpredictable subjects, but for those who value build, image, and video over size, it remains a very capable and honest tool.

What lenses are compatible with the X-H1?
It uses the Fujifilm X mount, interchangeable lenses (not fixed lens). It accepts the entire Fuji XF/XC range and third-party optics with X mount (Viltrox, Sigma, Tokina, Samyang, etc.). You can see options at Fujifilm X mount lenses. Tip: lenses with OIS combine optical stabilization with the body's IBIS; fixed lenses without OIS rely only on IBIS, where it gives its best ~5-5.5 stops.
How is the battery and battery life?
It is poor for its category: about ~310 shots CIPA per charge and ~50 min of 4K in real-world tests; enabling IBIS or WiFi consumes more. Always carry spare batteries. Important when buying used: Fuji specifies using the NP-W126S version (with S); old NP-W126 batteries can cause overheating or freezes. USB charging in-camera is convenient for travel.
Is it good for video?
Yes, it is one of its strengths: 4K DCI and UHD up to 30p at 200 Mbps, 1080p at 120 fps, and internal F-Log (8-bit, no internal 10-bit). Watch out for clip limits: body only is ~15 min in 4K, rising to 30 min with the Vertical Power Booster grip. Audio monitoring via headphones also requires the grip. The first-generation IBIS stabilizes well with the camera still, but in handheld pans the video can look 'jumpy'; it does not replace a gimbal.
Is it good for beginners?
It is more a camera for the enthusiast or professional user than for starting from scratch. It is large and heavy for APS-C (673 g), has many controls, and its face/eye detection autofocus is weak with unpredictable subjects. That said, if you want to learn with a robust body, with IBIS and excellent image quality, and you do not mind carrying weight, it is a great tool to grow into.
Is it reliable bought used?
It is a well-built and sealed body, but it is worth checking. There are reports of freezes, rapid battery drain, or unresponsive buttons, often linked to using non-'S' batteries or problematic cards. Also, the internal configuration/clock battery is soldered to the board and can deplete if the body is stored for a long time without a battery. And its shutter button is very sensitive ('feathered'): it fires or starts recording easily, a real trait of the model that some find annoying.
What should I check when buying it?
Check that it retains date and settings after powering off (indicates a healthy internal battery). Test power on/off, burst, and video recording to rule out freezes or write errors. Verify autofocus with a known lens, as units with erratic AF have been seen. As it is a body heavily used for video, check wear and, if possible, the shutter count. Confirm that the included battery is the NP-W126S and whether the Vertical Power Booster grip comes with it.
Is IBIS worth it compared to lens stabilization?
Very much, especially with fixed lenses without OIS (like the XF 35mm f/1.4 or the XF 16-55mm f/2.8), where it offers up to ~5-5.5 stops. With wide-angle lenses the performance drops considerably (Fuji measured ~2.5 stops with the XF 10-24mm, which also has its own OIS). It is ideal for still photography and video with the camera still; for walking while recording you will notice its first-generation limits.
